EPIC Fuels partner, Nulton Aviation, poised for growth at JST

August 3, 2023 — Hundreds of people recently gathered to commemorate the groundbreaking ceremony of the highly-anticipated Mid-Atlantic Opportunity Park at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

The Opportunity Park will be anchored by a state-of-the-art 100,000-square-foot aviation maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. It will also feature additional retail space for parts suppliers, paint shops, and distribution centers. The development is set to open its doors in the fall of 2024 and is projected to generate hundreds of high-paying jobs.

In preparation for the Park's opening, Dr. Larry Nulton, CEO of Cambrian Hills Development (the Opportunity Park's developer) and owner of Nulton Aviation Services, has been actively involved in numerous workforce development initiatives. These initiatives aim to attract industry talent and support national industry growth, aligning with the Park's upcoming launch.

Among these initiatives is the creation of the annual Aerium Summit—an immersive event that fosters hands-on learning for area students, educators, and industry leaders. The summit features cutting-edge testing simulators and drone flying experiences, empowering the next generation of aviation professionals. In collaboration with the Cambria County Airport Authority, Cambrian Hills Development is also developing a groundbreaking new aviation program and training facility at Johnstown Airport in partnership with Saint Francis University and SkyWest Airlines.

According to a recent Boeing study, the global commercial fleet will require more than 602,000 new pilots, 610,000 new maintenance technicians, and 899,000 new cabin crew members over the next 20 years. The Mid-Atlantic Opportunity Park is a crucial step towards meeting these demands and securing the future of aviation in the region.

Rob Lewis, VP of Sales for EPIC Fuels, stated, “We at EPIC are incredibly proud to offer our full support to this important project. Providing an additional refueler and extending our quality control team's assistance to Nulton Aviation Services as they expand their fuel farm will allow Nulton to meet the increasing fuel demands at JST created by the Opportunity Park”.
